For the mothers of Shingal city and surrounding devastated villages and Sinjar area there is no opportunity to access antenatal care . There are no female doctors in Shingal or midwives.
Y.E.S will be opening a clinic in the heart of the destroyed city to provide advice, monitoring, medical checks, classes in breastfeeding, hygiene and babycare. We also intend to supply contraception when required and folic acid to prevent birth defects.
In this very critical situation where there is only one doctor in Shingal hospital treating 300 people a day we hope to be able to provide the very neessary health checks every expectantmother need. This will serve to prevent complications in childbirth, to detect problems throughout pregnancy and to ensure medical support for this very vulnerable and much neglected population.
